Area Of Our Work
Weather & Climate Change Research
Climate change is reality and it’s happening now. The world including Bangladesh is warming, global sea level is rising, and some types of extreme weather events are becoming more frequent and more severe. These changes have already resulted in a wide range of impacts across every region of the country and many sectors of the economy. Bangladesh needs reliable scientific information about current and future changes, impacts, and effective response options.
In this context, Aesthetic International is working on weather and climate information to provide information in advance to the farmers as well as vulnerable peoples. This information will help to vulnerable peoples to save from natural disasters and small/poor farmers to make better decisions in the short and long term adapt to changing growing conditions. There are many climate variables that impact on the productivity of crops including: water availability, light, temperature, day length, local conditions, past history, future trends etc.Agriculture & Food Security
Agricultural systems that wisely use climate information can help to make better informed decisions at policy, institutional and community levels that improves the efficient use of limited resources, and increases crop by reducing impacts of climate risks and enhancing opportunities. As a result, local communities are able to enhance resiliency, increase incomes.
FOOD SECURITY: Our aims to provide weather and climate information to food security for vulnerable populations ensure improved livelihoods for smallholder farmers. Our successes are rooted in technical services and innovative approaches. We also work to provide services to connect rural farmers with crop insurance, and supported local agriculture farmers.
Disaster Risk Reduction
Bangladesh is one of the world’s most vulnerable countries to natural hazards and disasters. Disaster risk reduction is the concept and practice of reducing disaster risks through systematic efforts to analyze and reduce the causal factors of disasters. It aims to reduce socio-economic vulnerabilities to disaster as well as dealing with the environmental and other hazards that trigger them.
Risk Management Reducing exposure to hazards, lessening vulnerability of people and property, wise management of land and the environment, and improving preparedness and early warning for adverse events are all examples of disaster risk reduction.
Green Energy
All energy sources have some impact on our environment. Fossil fuels—coal, oil, and natural gas—do substantially more harm than renewable energy sources by most measures, including air and water pollution, damage to public health, wildlife and habitat loss, water use, land use, and global warming emissions.
However, renewable sources such as wind, solar, geothermal, biomass, and hydropower also have environmental impacts, some of which are significant.
The exact type and intensity of environmental impacts varies depending on the specific technology used, the geographic location, and a number of other factors. By understanding the current and potential environmental issues associated with each renewable energy source, we can take steps to effectively avoid or minimize these impacts as they become a larger portion of our electric supply.
Aesthetic International is to meet the needs of our clients and to help build a cleaner environment for the future. We continue to work closely with our customers to provide affordable eco-efficient energy solutions. We develop integrated solutions also.
Climate & Health
Widespread scientific consensus exists that the world’s climate is changing. Some of these changes will likely include more variable weather, heat waves, heavy precipitation events, flooding, droughts, more intense storms, sea level rise, and air pollution. Each of these impacts could negatively affect public health. While climate change is a global issue, the effects of climate change will vary across geographic regions and populations. SECL’s Climate and Health Program will help the country for the specific health impacts of climate change that the communities will face.
OUR HEALTH MISSION IS TO:
- Lead efforts to identify populations vulnerable to climate change.
- Prevent and adapt to current and anticipated health impacts.
- Ensure that systems are in place to detect and respond to current and emerging health.
Water Resource Management
Water is a key driver of economic and social development while it also has a basic function in maintaining the integrity of the natural environment. However, water is only one of a number of vital natural resources and it is imperative that water issues are not considered in isolation. The traditional fragmented approach is no longer viable and a more holistic approach to water management is essential. Our experience enables us to assist our clients in developing strategies to address a broad spectrum of operational, management, financial and economic challenges. Our professionals are focused on assisting our clients in developing strategies to address the complex needs associated with this dynamic industry.
From rural water to large urban water and wastewater utilities, Aesthetic International can offer innovative management strategies that improve the efficiency and effectiveness of our clients' organization to the benefit of their customer base.
Research, Development & Training
Aesthetic International research on climate services and safety nets works with a range of organizations to support the development of effective climate information and advisory services for farmers and climate-informed safety net interventions. These resilience-building services provide an enabling environment for smallholder farmers to transition towards more climate-smart production systems and climate-resilient livelihood strategies, while protecting them from climatic extremes. Research develops the knowledge, methods, capacity, and evidence needed to design, target and implement these interventions effectively at scale. Research at the cutting edge of science and technology requires a special blend of organizational design, human resource management, and institutional strategy.
Training This Division organizes the trainings to professionals of different organization/agency in the field of climate change, water resources, environment, GIS and RS. The Division also provides a scope for internship to encourage national students of graduate and post-graduate levels
